Self-watering planter: £50, lsa-international.com
Made in: Poland
Made from: Otherwise discarded recyclable glass jars and bottles, plus sustainably sourced cork.
What’s the story?
Interior design studio LSA International specialises in handmade vases, planters and tableware. It was co-founded in London in the 1960s by Janusz Lubkowski and Tony Saunders. Lubkowski’s daughter Monika is now creative director.
Not only is all packaging recyclable, LSA donates practical items – plates, mugs, glassware – to charitable initiatives
Why should I buy?
This clever self-watering planter, created in partnership with the Eden Project, isn’t just ideal for forgetful plant parents – it reduces water waste, too. Water is stored in the lower part (separated from the upper one by a cork) and the plant draws it into the soil through a cord linking the layers.
Why shouldn’t I buy?
LSA’s headquarters is in London and its factory is in Poland, so the products need to be imported.
The extra mile
Not only is all packaging recyclable, LSA donates practical items – plates, mugs, glassware – to charitable initiatives such as Furnishing Futures, which helps kit out social housing for victims of domestic abuse.
