  • Isaac Ramirez, from Santa Paula, California, set aside $360 last year for a Valentine’s Day gift for his fiancée, Carolina Fernandez
  • He took away a dollar every day she yelled at him, leaving just $40 for the gift
  • Isaac shared his antics on TikTok, where commenters have had mixed reactions
  • Some viewers slammed Carolina for yelling at him so often, while others insisted Isaac must have given her a reason to be angry
  • Several said it seemed like they had an unhealthy relationship full of ‘red flags’ and should break up

A California man claims that he deducted $1 from his fiancée’s Valentine’s Day gift fund every day that she yelled at him over the past year, which whittled her $360 gift down to just $40 – and sparked a furious debate among commenters.

Isaac Ramirez, from Santa Paula, said on TikTok that he set aside $360 last year for a Valentine’s Day gift for his fiancée, Carolina Fernandez.

But he decided to take away a dollar away for every day that she raised her voice at him, which came to a shocking total of 320 times in just 364 days.

While Isaac thought the plan was clever, other commenters are less impressed, with some saying that it seems like their relationship is full of ‘red flags’ and they should probably just break up.

But he decided to take away a dollar away for every day that she raised her voice at him, which came to a shocking total of 320 times in just 364 days

‘Last year I put $360 away for my fiancée’s Valentine’s Day gift, but I took away $1 every day she yelled at me,’ he wrote in the video, as he showed off an envelope labeled ‘Valentine’s Day 2022’

The envelope was originally packed with cash, but the clip then cut to him removing some of the money and putting it in a different envelope, which had the words ‘Treat yourself king’ written on it.

‘Now her gift limit is $40 and I saved myself $320,’ he continued.

‘Now all she’s getting is flowers and chocolates,’ Isaac captioned it.

Isaac’s intention appeared to be to make Carolina ‘earn’ her gift with good behavior – or alternatively, to punish her for bad behavior.

And while a few TikTok viewers found this clever, others were disgusted and said the video hinted at a problematic relationship.

Some critics slammed Carolina for allegedly yelling at Isaac so many times over the last year, and encouraging Isaac to call it quits.

‘It’s time to find a new girl if she’s yelling at you 320 days of the year dawg,’ wrote one viewer.

‘Save $360 instead by breaking up,’ agreed another.

Someone else said: ‘Yelling at someone 320 days of the year ain’t normal.’

‘If she yelled at you 320 days in a year, I don’t think she’s the one. But that’s just me,’ read a fourth comment.

Others left critical comments for Isaac, bashing him for giving Carolina a reason to yell in the first place and writing that he most likely deserved it.

‘Some men don’t deserve women. I hope she finds someone that gives her more than doing petty things to take away from the relationship,’ wrote one.

Another added: ‘Like you don’t give her reasons to yell?’

‘Why’d you do something worth yelling?’ asked a different TikTok user.

The video launched a huge argument between viewers – with some slamming Carolina for yelling at him so many times over the last year, and encouraging Isaac to break up with her

Some people also suggested alternatives, like adding money back if she did something nice for him

Others still said that their whole relationship seemed toxic if Carolina was in fact yelling so much and Isaac was punishing her by withholding planned gifts

‘Y’all concerned about him taking away HIS money from a Valentine’s Day gift? She still has $40 you can do so much with $40,’ someone else, who was on Isaac’s side, fired back.

‘I’m no expert, but is this a healthy way to behave in a relationship?’ asked one.

‘All I’m getting is red flags from both of you,’ wrote another, while a third wrote: ‘I love being in a healthy and communicating relationship.’

‘Sounds like a great relationship,’ read another snarky comment, to which he answered, ‘It is.’

‘Why are you still together?’ someone else asked him in the comment section, to which he replied, ‘Toxic couples are stronger than regular couples.’

In the end, Isaac insisted that it was all in good fun and that he and Carolina are happy together.
