Mars has announced it will be bringing out 'healthier' versions of its classic chocolate bars, including Bounty, Snickers and Galaxy.
The changes are being made in order to keep up with potential new UK regulations on unhealthy food.
The bars are reportedly set to be made out of date paste, peanuts, and raisins, but still covered with chocolate, according to LadBible.
The confectionery giant will release a new 'Triple Treat' range of healthier chocolate bars in June so that they can be seen in prominent areas of shops amidst government proposals to tackle obesity.
It is expected that new legislation will be brought in soon that sees the promotion of snacks that are high in fat, sugar and salt restricted.
It's also though that shops will be forced to end promotions such as ‘buy one get one free’ or ‘three for two’ promotions on similar goods.
Promotions that aren’t as healthy will also reportedly have to be moved out of key locations in shops, such as next to checkout areas, in the entrance of shops, and the end of aisles.
Mars' new healthier version will only be available in Tesco at first.
The plan is to allow those versions to give the brand as much visibility as possible in noticeable shop locations, while the original versions might have to go elsewhere in future.
It's thought the healthier versions will be around 80p per 40 grams, which is more expensive by 57% than the original versions.
According to The Grocer, the price increase is because they use ‘very premium ingredients’.
