Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson are the real deal.
The couple cemented their love back in October by getting tattooed together during a night out. Now, they’re unveiling their first matching designs: tiny trident symbols that pay tribute to Simpson’s alter ego, Prince Neptune.
Under his nom de plume, the 23-year-old has penned a poetry book — with tons of rambling prose and rhyming lines about Cyrus — that will be released on April 7. Tattoo artist Nico Bassill, who created the couple’s coordinated ink, even captioned his Instagram photo of their new tats with a quote from the poet’s pages that’s presumably about Cyrus: “Some mornings it’s like the sun rises only for her.”
Cyrus gifted Simpson a bag, hat and more swag featuring the trident logo for his birthday earlier this year, showing her support for his poetry career.

The “Slide Away” singer is clearly a fan of couples tattoos. Not only did she and ex-girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter honor their whirlwind Italian romance last summer with ink, but she also shares more than a few tattoos with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. In fact, Cyrus’ new trident artwork is placed on her wrist, just below text from a Theodore Roosevelt speech that is continued on Hemsworth’s bicep.
It should come as no surprise that Simpson’s poetry is inspired by his relationship with Cyrus; he previously released the song “Golden” about her, and included her photo as the cover art. No doubt Cyrus’ fingerprints will be all over the final pages.
