A mum and her 3 kids have been left homeless after a fire ripped through their home.
The fire broke out in the living room of Lauren Hilton's home on November 24, while she was in with her three children Bonnie, 3, Willow, 2 and Paisley, and boyfriend Richard.
Richard woke Lauren at around 4.40am after hearing the fire alarms blaring downstairs.
The family were able to escape the home in Anfield, Liverpool, but nearly all the family's belongings have been destroyed by the fire and they are unable to return to the home because of extensive smoke damage, the Liverpool Echo reports .
The family are now staying with Lauren's mum, Lisa Hilton, 45, while they try and get back on their feet.
Lisa Hilton said: "It's completely unlivable because of the smoke damage, so she's staying with me at the moment.
"They've lost everything, It's devastating.
"You don't realise how devastating it is until if happens to your own family.
"They've lost nearly all of their belongings so we've had to make sure that the girls have everything they need.
"It happened right before Christmas too, so she'd bought Christmas presents and it was the baby's birthday two days later, so she lost all of her presents.
"I couldn't stop crying for days afterwards when anyone mentioned it, it's just awful."
The fire is believed to have started from an electrical fault in a plug socket and sent the TV and Christmas tree up in flames as it tore through the living room.
Photos show the damage left behind by the fire, which Lisa said "blew the windows out in the living room" and "burnt through the floor boards" into Lauren's bedroom above.
Lisa said three fire engines, two ambulances and a police car were soon sent out to the blaze.
"My daughter and her three girls were all upstairs in bed and her boyfriend was staying over that night", Lisa said.
"Luckily enough he woke up when he heard one of the fire alarms going off downstairs. The other alarms upstairs weren't working.
"He wasn't sure if he was dreaming at first but he got up and went to the top of the stairs and that's when he saw smoke coming from the living room."
"He woke Lauren up and they grabbed the girls. Lauren said when she was at the top of the stairs she was scared of going down them because there was that much smoke that they couldn't see, so she was worried they were going to walk into it.
"Lauren got on the floor with the three girls while her boyfriend unlocked the front door."
Lisa said firefighters told Lauren and her partner that if they had woken up five minutes later, they wouldn't have made it out of the property.
Lisa has set up a Go Fund Me page to help her daughter get back on her feet and is asking people to donate what they can.
She said: "People have been fantastic so far. They've donated toys and clothings for the kids.
"When she does get a new house she'll have so start all over again because all of her furniture and everything was damaged by the smoke."
