Sharleen Spiteri has revealed a new hack for opening jars that's completely changed her life.
She revealed on Claudia Winkleman's Radio 2 show that a friend recently gave her the "insane" tip.
Sharleen recommends whacking a tight jar lid hard with a wooden spoon, saying it's the easiest way to remove it.
The 55-year-old said: “Hold it in your hand. Take a wooden spoon and smack the rim at the side once. It makes this noise – it goes pop – and it just opens. It’s insane.”
Sharleen said she's previously tried everything to open difficult jars, including tapping lids when they're upside down.
But nothing's ever worked as well as this new wooden spoon hack. The delighted singer has been showing her friends and family too.
Sharleen said: “I told my sister. I Facetimed her and went ‘watch this’. I was opening every jar I could find in the house just to show people.”
Claudia was fascinated by Sharleen's new trick. She asked: “Do you have to hit it in a specific spot?”
But Sharleen replied that it is all about hitting the jar hard with the wooden spoon- it doesn't matter where.
Sharleen's not the first celebrity to share a handy life hack. Mrs Hinch, also known as the cleaning Queen, regularly takes to her social media to share important tips with her followers.
Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, recently shared a very useful tip for removing brown limescale from toilets – Harpic toilet tablets.
She recommended leaving them in the toilet bowl for 20 to 30 minutes and then brushing and flushing them away, banishing the limescale forever.
One of her impressed followers confirmed that the products worked very well and commented: "Twenty minutes and any thick brown toilet limescale will be gone.
"They are amazing and the best thing for limescale in your toilet."
The Harpic tablets come in a pack of eight and are just £3 in most supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Ocado.
As you only need two tablets for each clean, it will set you back just 75p per use – helping to banish that pesky and grim-looking limescale.
Another recent hack Mrs Hinch shared involved McDonalds' Happy Meals. Apparently, you can tear the box to make a plate for your food.
Saves on washing up and mess, so really its a win-win situation. Her fans were shocked by the simple hack, including a fellow cleaning account, which wrote: "I’m so using this and mind has blown with this!! Wtf! I live under a rock or else I’m just old!! xx."
YouTube star Zoe Sugg commented: "I also DID NOT KNOW THIS!! X" whilst another Instagram user added: "Whaaaat!! Never knew that! That’s gotta be a new thing."
