The talk show host, who has a prosthetic leg, previously revealed to PA news agency how shocked and elated he was by the news.
‘I am absolutely chuffed to bits to be given this honour,’ he said. ‘I’ve already googled “Australian comedians who have received honours”, “when can I start writing MBE after my name?” and “are Australians even eligible for an MBE?”‘
The presenter soon discovered the answer to his question after finding out fellow comic Barry Humphries and critic Clive James had both received medals.
Adam continued: ‘Honestly though, for a boy from the southern suburbs of Sydney, this is quite a massive deal.’
