Secret code hidden on your Pizza Express order revealed – have you spotted it? | The Sun

A MYSTERY pizza code has been revealed – uncovering just why a stray tomato might be left on your meal by colluding cooks.

A Pizza Express diner has taken to TikTok to point out the meaning behind "that one random tomato" served up on a crust's edge.

Londoner Nicole Whittle, who posts online as @veganbeautygirl, shared a video of her tucking into a meal – while highlighting what she says she was told by Pizza Express staff.

She captioned the footage with the words: "I thought they kept dropping them or something – now you know!"

And she told viewers: "Has anyone ever wondered what's with that one random tomato on the pizza?

"Like perfectly good pizza but then there's half a random tomato on it.

"Well, when I was at Pizza Express the other day, trying out their new sloppy vegan pizza, they told me it's actually a secret code that they use in the kitchen to let everyone know that the pizza is vegan."

The revelation came as a shock to many of her TikTok account's viewers – while former Pizza Express employees appeared to confirm the news.

One wrote: "I worked in Pizza Express and thought it was so clever!"

Another commenter said: "That's actually super smart and as a vegan it makes me feel better, like they're taking it seriously."

Fans should perhaps make the most and tuck in whenever they can, amid recent warnings Britain faces a looming pizza crisis due to rocketing tomato costs.

Vegan options, meanwhile, have been recommended by health experts who say a plant-based diet could help people lose weight while also fending off heart disease and diabetes.

Celebrity vegans include boxer David Haye, Oscar-winning Joker actor Joaquin Phoenix, singer Billie Eilish, F1 racer Sir Lewis Hamilton and TV and radio presenter Fearne Cotton.

Pizza Express was contacted for comment.
