Sergey Tokarev: NFT project to help Ukraine to deal with war consequences

A new project Sirens initiated by Ukrainian IT startup ZibraAI focuses on selling 1991 NFT artworks to collect funds that will be donated to the largest trusted Ukrainian charity funds. Sergey Tokarev, a founding partner at tech company Roosh that includes several IT companies including ZibraAI, explains the details of the new project.

The name for the project refers to airstrike alarm sirens Ukrainians heard in the early morning on the 24th of February 2022. This sound has become, unfortunately, usual for local people as the war is still on, and it is now strongly associated with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the associated humanitarian crisis.

The war has many faces, and many people snap different moments of it. Thousands of people died, were wounded, or were kidnapped, millions of people had to flee their houses to other regions of the country or abroad, and hundreds of destroyed objects of critical infrastructure and residential buildings.

The ZibraAI team chose 150 war events that most Ukrainians can recognize, such as, for instance, the battle of the Antonov airport and the attack of the “Russian Warship” on Snake island. According to Sergey Tokarev, the gallery Sirens of 1991 artworks depicts these events and gives everyone a chance to see the war stories via NFT pictures.

The whole NFT collection is planned to be sold in three drops: two of 661 NFTs each via OpenSea and one of 669 NFTs on Near. The start for each artwork starts at $100.

The funds collected in the auctions will be donated to two Ukrainian charity funds Dobro.ua and Unchain.fund. According to Sergey Tokarev, the crypto wallets are integrated into a contract with NFT sales, so that the funds raised from selling the Sirens artworks will be transferred directly to the funds. It means that by purchasing an NFT from the Sirens gallery, a buyer helps Ukrainians affected by war and remain in danger.

To be precise, Dobro.ua and Unchain.fund deal with children and adults who had to flee war zones due to ongoing combats and who now have to live in shelters, people who are now on the edge of humanitarian catastrophe, elderly people who were not able to flee, and hospitals that provide so needed help to victims of the war.

“By generating the Sirens NFT gallery, we seek to help Ukrainians, as well as unite contemporary artists and the tech industry around the effort of protecting the values Ukraine is fighting for. And finally, to really show the world Ukraine through our eyes: a brave, united, and technologically advanced country,” explains Sergey Tokarev.

The gallery “Sirens” was created with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and officially supported by Darewise, Powder, Near Foundation, Twid, and Sloyd, with Galactic3 responsible for the development, strategy, and everything related to the project’s technical infrastructure.
