We’re all feeling the pinch at the moment, with the current cost of living crisis.
So any ways we can make a little extra cash are very welcome.
The good news is that many people might be sitting on a small fortune – and not even be aware of it.
Experts have shared some items that might be sitting in attics around the world, that could be worth a lot of money.
Saga and Antiques Roadshow expert Mark Hill have shared some of the most sought-after collectibles of 2022 and reveal which pieces are worth the most cash.
Experts say you could be sitting on a pretty penny if you have costume jewellery in the loft. Popular names from the 1930s onwards are the most desirable, such as vintage Miriam Haskell – whose necklaces are worth more than £3.4million.
Medals are another one to look out for – and the more significant the backstory, the more the value – with a distinguished Service Cross selling in 2011 for £120,000.
Old collectable coins are also worth digging out – with the The Olympics Aquatics Line 50p coin released in 2011 currently listed on eBay for £700.
As always, first edition books are also worth a considerable amount. Harry Potter first edition books have known to sell for £80,000 and The Very Hungry Caterpillar first edition recently sold for £2,439.38.
But it’s worth checking if you own any lesser-known titles, too.
In a similar vein, comic books are worth finding as well.
A comic featuring the first ever appearance of Spider-Man, titled ‘Amazing Fantasy #15’ sold for £2.75m (£2.75m) in 2021 – making it the most expensive one ever sold.
Experts stress that wristwatches, wines, whiskeys and mid-century modern furniture are also high-value collectibles.
And it might be worth holding onto any Jubilee merchandise from June – as this has potential to increase significantly in value over the years.
