The move will see the government set-up a coronavirus job retention scheme.

Any employer in the country charitable or non profit will be eligible for the scheme.

To apply, employers will need to contact HMRC for the grant which the government says it aims to pay "in weeks".

There will be no limit on the funding available to employees and the scheme will initially be open for three months.

It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night promised to stand by hardworking Brits during the coronavirus pandemic.
