There has been a lot of talk about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle picking up their family and relocating to South Africa. There is little doubt that Prince Harry adores Africa, yet his dream of leaving England and creating a home base in Cape Town would come with major sacrifices. Not only would he be thousands of miles away from the rest of the royal family, but he and Markle might be forced to give up certain royal privileges — including their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan and Harry open up in new documentary
According to Express, there are some royal experts who believe the documentary is the most revealingpiece since Prince Diana’s interview in 1995 — which is saying a lot. Although Harryand Markle hinted that they might relocate to Africa in the documentary, royalexperts do not believe a move is in the cards.
For starters, it would cost an enormous amount of money to move Prince Harry and Markle to South Africa. The royal family would have to fit the bill for their new home, plus provide an annual budget for security, which could get out of hand very quickly.
While it is true that the royals have enough money to fund theproject, justifying the expense with British taxpayers is a whole differentstory.
And that’s not the only reason a move from England is probablyout of the question.
Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have to renounce their titles?
As members of the royal family, Prince Harry and Markle have duties to perform every year. In fact, the couple has a responsibility to all 16 nations that Queen Elizabeth rules over, and it should be noted that South Africa is not in the group.
South Africa is a part of the Commonwealth, but so are 52 othernations. If they moved to South Africa, it would be showing undue favoritism tothe region.
But if we ignore all of these obstacles and Harry and Markle dorelocate to South Africa, they would likely have to renounce their royaltitles.
If the couple renounced their titles and royal duties, then theywould be free to move wherever they please. But they would no longer be a partof the monarchy, which means they would have to find an alternative fundingsource.
Members of the royal family have given up their royal titles and privileges in the past, but it is not a frequent occurrence.
It is difficult to see Markle and Prince Harry renouncing theirroyal titles. The two have a lot of support throughout the U.K. and the U.S.,and Prince Harry has never hinted that he wants out of the royal family.
But there is a chance that it could happen in the near future, especially if the two are as unhappy as they seem.
Harry teases a move to South Africa

Harry admitted that Cape Town would be the perfect location forhim and Markle to establish a base camp.
That said, he also confessed that the city has a lot of issuesand moving to South Africa would not solve any of the problems facing theregion. He then assured royal watchers that he and Markle will continue to doamazing work in South Africa, especially on the conservation front.
