Beyoncé review – Hyper-visual Renaissance tour left fans clamouring for more

Beyoncé’s highly-anticipated return to London for her Renaissance World Tour could not have been more well-suited to a queen of her craft. The show, a gargantuan celebration of her career, was the kind of event one remembers for a lifetime, cementing her as the one-in-a-generation kind of talent she is.

Filling the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for five consecutive nights is no small feat, but the Houston native managed to flawlessly maintain her usual high standards, making clear why she deserves the popularity that precedes her.

Saturday, June 3rd’s show in London was not only a celebration of her decades-long career, but also a salute to the loyal fanbase she has consistently shown endless gratitude for.

Beyoncé ensured all fans – old and new – were catered to by including a comprehensive selection of some of her all-time hits, including Naughty Girl and the Destiny’s Child classic Say My Name. She also made sure to feature some of her piano ballads including Flaws And All and 1+1, showing off the pristine, hypnotising voice she is well-known for in the process.

Her extraordinary talents didn’t stop there, though; the 41-year-old pulled out all the stops with her energetic dancing and stage presence throughout the different sections of the show, proving why she is the number one touring artist in the UK in 2023 (based on total tickets sold on viagogo).

The highly visual environment was the perfect complement to Beyoncé’s mesmerising vocals. One of the most emotional moments of the night was Beyoncé’s tribute to the legendary Tina Turner with River Deep — Mountain High, which was soon followed by some of the most invigorating songs from her Renaissance album, causing a frenzied reaction from an already elated crowd of fans from over 90 countries.

As a somewhat expected surprise to her fans, Beyoncé once again brought out Blue Ivy Carter, her daughter with husband Jay-Z. At just 11-years-old, the youngster proved she inherited her parents’ talented genes by performing alongside the star’s dancers.

Along with her superstar potential, Blue Ivy proved she is a natural when it comes to entertaining, refusing to shy away from the colossal task of leading fabulously seasoned dancers in front of approximately 60,000 fans.

The show, which ended on a high with Beyoncé being as energetic as she was at the beginning, included a fabulously dramatic touch by presenting the music superstar mounted on a giant disco horse in a nod to her latest album’s artwork. That closing note, along with plenty of other unexpected elements such as impressive dance showdowns and a surprise appearance inside a clamshell, mirroring Botticelli’s Venus, left fans clamouring for the generational icon.
