BGTs Amanda Holden says having year break was best thing to happen for show

Amanda Holden has said that Britain's Got Talent taking a break for a year was "the best thing" to happen.

The 51-year-old star will be back on our screens this weekend alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

BGT will return this Easter Weekend on Saturday night (April 16) at 8pm and a follow up episode will also air on Sunday (April 17) at 7.35pm.

Talking about the hiatus, Amanda said: :Ultimately, the safety and health of everybody needed to come first.

"I think having that natural rest for a year is the best thing that we could have done in hindsight.

"The energy is back, the judges are back, the audience is back. The acts that had two years to practice at home are now bubbling with excitement to be on stage.

"It has been the perfect antidote for what has happened in the last two years."

Acts from across the UK will audition at the London Palladium, all competing for the chance to perform at this year’s Royal Variety Performance, and win a hefty £250,000 in prize money.

This year’s Royal Variety Performance will be exceptionally special as we enter the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.

In a new and exciting twist, the judges will be inviting and hand-picking contestants in this years new season of Britain’s Got Talent.

They will surprise contestants with a special home visit and invite them to perform.

This new and exciting segment is called Judges Golden Moments in hopes to highlight talent and tell stories in a different way.

Alesha, 43, will visit a dancer named Skylar, seven, to ask her to perform her routine on the talent show.

Viewers will also see Simon, 62, visit a children’s military choir during while they rehearse to invite them on the show.

David, 50, will surprise a little boy named Anneshwar and invite him to the studio, following his work through poetry to help save the planet.

Amanda, 51, will get a cancer doctor into an interview on her show at Heart FM, and then explain to them that his friends have nominated him to compete in the national show.
