Dua Lipa is set to star in the new Barbie moving alongside Hollywood A-listers Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the screen adaptation.
The 26-year-old is set to appear on the silver screen when the film is released in July 2023 but promotional material has already been made public.
A picture of Margot Robbie, who will play the title character, driving a pink Cadillac has recently been used to promote the movie.
She can be seen wearing a striped blue dress, a matching head band and a blue bracelet as she beams from the driver's seat.
Production is planned to begin in the UK this year and Albanian-born Dua will reportedly be joining the fun.
Greta Gerwig’s screenplay is the first live action film based on the character, which was released as a plastic doll toy for the first time back in 1959.
The franchise is extremely popular, even more so today, and her story has been adapted into animated television series and movies where she takes on multiple roles as princesses, ballerinas and mermaids, to name a few.
Dua Lipa made her acting debut in 2021 when she took part in spy thriller Argylle, due to hit cinemas this year.
An inside source spoke to The Sun about her exciting new venture: “Dua is making waves in both music and movies. She really impressed in Argylle and word spread around Hollywood about how good she was.”
They continued: “Now she has joined the cast of Barbie alongside big names including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell and Saoirse Ronan. Although Argylle is a big film in its own right, Barbie will be a breakthrough part for Dua because there is so much hype around it.”
The source ended by saying: “Dua is quickly proving there is far more to her than just being a pop star. She has an exciting future ahead of her in films.”
Aside from working next to huge stars for the upcoming flick, Dua has been busy focussing on her music career.
The singer kicked off her Future Nostalgia tour back in February and recently admitted that her third album is being finalised, almost to be finished.
