Phil and Holly’ ‘queue jumping’ backlash sparks petition to remove hosts from TV

A petition has been released to remove Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield from ITV's This Morning.

The petition comes after the ITV hosts appeared to jump the queue to see The Queen lying in state.

ITV have said that the two presenters were there in a "professional capacity" and were filming for Tuesday's show.

This Morning producers have denied that Holly and Phil jumped the queue and released a statement that read: "This Morning had press accreditation and like other media, Phillip and Holly were escorted to work from the press gallery by government staff. They did not file past The Queen's coffin.

"They were there alongside a host of other broadcasters and national press outlets for an item that will be broadcast on Tuesday's show. Any allegations of improper behaviour are categorically untrue."

However fans have still been left furious and a petition has been made demanding that the hosts are removed from the show.

A petition on Change.org has called for the hosts to be removed and has labelled the ITV morning show as "damaging".

The petition reads: "‘Thousands of people are lining up overnight to pay respects to the Queen, where they will likely wait up to 24 hours.

"Yet Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, two hosts of one of the most damaging to mental health day time tv show This Morning, were able to push past those thousands and get immediate access."

It continued: "ITV should be ashamed of exploiting the situation. I’d like to see This Morning axed for good as I do believe it causes more harm than good, without people noticing. For example, like turning cost of living anxiety into a game show.

"At the least though, these toxic presenters Holly and Philip should finally be removed from our TV screens. They monopolised way too long. "

So far 8 thousand people have signed the petition, with the organiser hoping to get to ten thousand signatures.

Many angry members of the public have taken to Twitter to complain.

One fumed: "If Holly and Phil jumped the queue to see Her Majesty the Queen lying in state they should be sacked."

Another said: "Holly and Phil should be sacked..pair of idiots..jumping the queue to see the Queen laying in state is deplorable @itv @thismorning think they are above everyone..pair of celebs with zero respect."

This come after fellow celebrities have queued for hours to see the Queen lying in state.

ITV presenter Susanna Reid queued for more than seven hours to view the Queen's coffin on its first day being on public view while David Beckham queued for 12 hours on Friday and shed a tear as he walked past the coffin.
