US rapper Lil Reese is said to be critically injured after being shot in the neck near Chicago, Illinois on Monday.
The 26-year-old musician, best known for working with the likes of Chief Keef, is said to have been injured in the shooting which took place in south suburban Country Club Hills, which is around 40 minutes outside of Chicago.
According to ABC7Chicago.com, police were called to the scene where they found a car with blood in the driver’s seat and on the ground near to the driver’s door.
Witnesses told police that someone picked up a wounded man who was later identified after officers called round to local hospitals, TMZ reports.
Police were told a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck was being treated at South Suburban Hospital. Lil Reese was later transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois to receive further treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently unknown but police have launched an investigation.
An NBC reporter tweeted that police are now looking for a ‘white Chevy Malibu vehicle with Wisconsin license plates’.
Lil Reese, real name Tavares Taylor, notably featured on Chief Keef’s 2012 breakout single I Don’t Like, which was later remixed by Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean and Jadakiss. Reese also worked with Chief Keef on the track Traffic.
The rappers are known to be close friends, with both hailing from Chicago.
Lil Reese shared his most recent Instagram post early on Monday with a link to his latest track.
Just a few hours before the incident, Lil Reese posted a message on his stories to mark Veteran’s Day in the US, writing: ‘Happy Veterans Day to me imma real life getto vet [sic].’
He also tweeted on Monday morning: ‘If you not on s**t or dont got s**t going for yoself dnt come around me [sic].’
