The Holiday and My Name Is Earl actor Bill Macy has died.
The American actor, who played Ernie in film The Holiday, died on Thursday night in Los Angeles, California.
Macy was also famous for playing character Walter Findlay in CBS TV show Maude and Whiskey Pete in TV series My Name Is Earl.
The news was made public by the actor's manager Matt Beckoff who paid tribute to the star on his Facebook account.
He wrote: "My buddy Bill Macy passed away at 7:13pm tonight. "He was a spitfire right up to the end.
My condolences to his beautiful wife Samantha Harper Macy.
No more details of the star's death have been announced as of yet.
Macy and wife Samantha were happily married ever since they married back in 1975.
The pair first crossed paths on the off-Broadway play Oh! Calcutta! in 1969, six years before they wed.
Macy was born Wolf Martin Garber in Revere, Massachusetts back in May 1922.
He worked as a cab driver for a decade before being cast as Walter Matthau's understudy in Once More, With Feeling on Broadway in 1958.
Ironically, he portrayed a cab driver on the soap opera The Edge of Night in 1966.
He was also an original cast member of the 1969-72 Off-Broadway sensation Oh! Calcutta!, later appearing in the 1972 movie version of the musical.
