Amazon Prime announce cast for new Lord of the Rings series including GOT actor

Amazon bosses have announced the star-studded cast set to appear in the Lords of the Rings spin-off series.

The $1 billion Amazon Prime television series will be set in Middle Earth in a new era and will explore new storylines proceeding J.R.R Tolkein's The Fellowship of the Ring.

Lord of the Rings fans were sent into meltdown recently when The Lord of the Rings on Prime Twitter account posted a tweet announcing cast members of the TV series in a lengthy thread.

The account tweeted: "A grand journey is defined by its travellers.

The all-star cast includes Games of Thrones actor Richard Aramayo, who is known for playing young Ned Str in the HBO fantasy series.

It has been reported tat Aramayo will be replacing Will Poulter after he dropped out due to other work commitments.

Other cast members include Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman.

Production of the series is set to begin next month after months of speculation.

The series is led by executive producers and show runners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.

In a joint statement to the fans, McKay and Payne said: "After undertaking an extensive global search, we are delighted finally to reveal the first group of brilliant performers who will take part in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series.

"These exceptionally talented women and men are more than just our actors: they are the newest members of an ever-expanding creative family that is now working tirelessly to bring Middle-earth to life anew for fans and audiences worldwide."

Fans of Lord of the Rings have taken to Twitter to share their views on the cast announcement.

One fan said: "I can't wait for this."

A second tweeted: "Amazon is going to kill Lord of the Rings."
