Ant and Dec pay emotional tribute to 'end of an era' after ITV axes beloved channel | The Sun

ANT and Dec have come out with an emotional tribute for the 'end of an era' after the news that ITV are axing a beloved channel.

The Geordie duo shared an old photo from their time on CITV in 1994 after ITV confirmed the children's morning programme was coming to an end.

The channel, which launched in 2006, is now closing to make way for new children's streaming service ITVX Kids.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly got their first big break on CITV when they presented Gimme 5, a kid's show which ran for two series.

The pair looked back fondly at their time on the show, captioning the snap: "End of an era" with a crying emoji.

In the photo the best friends looked young and fresh faced, and Dec had his hair gelled in a mid-90s style.

"These images are giving us serious nostalgia. Which CITV show takes you right back?"

Ex-hosts on the channel and viewers who had previously loved CITV shared their sadness over it being axed.

One nostalgic fan shared: "Kids today will never know the amazing childhood we had growing up with shows like this Saturday morning."
