Apprentice candidate loses control in furious outburst but escapes first firing

Shahin Hassan has become the first candidate to be fired from this year's The Apprentice – and viewers are not happy.

Lord Sugar gave the chartered engineer, 36, the boot after he failed to sell any tickets for the boys' safari tour in South Africa.

However, outraged viewers were stunned Lewis Ellis, 28, was not sacked after he lost control in a furious outburst in the boardroom.

After he started screaming at his two teammates, disgusted Lord Sugar called an end to the "unprofessional squabbling".

But ultimately the business mogul decided it was not enough for him to fire Lewis – with some Apprentice viewers suggesting he had 'gone soft'.

Lord Sugar said: "Lewis I have to say as the PM one is bitterly disappointed and I'm also bitterly disappointed in your outburst of temper."

But Lewis was given a stay of execution as Lord Sugar then turned to break some bad news to Shahin.

He continued: "Having said that. Shahin you didn't sell. It's as simple as that. You lost the task on sales. It is with regret, Shahin, you are fired."

Shahin became an endangered species and was "disappointed" to sent packing after just one task.

But Lord Sugar gave a stern warning to lewis after his close shave in the boardroom.

He said: "You young man, you burst out like that in front of me or Claude and Karren or anyone else and you’ll be out that door. Just be calm and professional."

In the back of the taxi, Shahin said: "I'm very disappointed to leave at such an early stage. It should have been Lewis. But ultimately its Lord Sugar’s decision and I'll have to live with that."
