BBC Breakfasts Ben Boulos announces new career move after ‘huge public demand’

BBC Breakfast business correspondent Ben Boulos has announced a huge move in his broadcasting career after making his debut on the morning programme.

Ben, who used to go by Ben Bland before changing his name to reflect his heritage, posted the news after "unprecedented, overwhelming public demand" on his social media pages.

Sharing a snap of him sitting at a desk at BBC News, Ben was grinning at the camera while rifling through his notes, a glass of water prepared at his side.

The presenter looked dapper as ever in a navy-blue suit with a purple tie and crisp white shirt.

Captioning the snap, Ben explained that he would be back on BBC World News after not appearing on the programme for some time.

He wrote: "It’s been a while… but due to huge, unprecedented, overwhelming public demand* I’ll be back in the chair tomorrow (Friday) on @bbcnews channel/@bbctwo from 0900GMT & BBC World News from 1000GMT.

"Can’t wait! See you then!"

He cheekily added: "(*creative licence may have been used in this description)".

Ben’s fans rushed to the comments section to share in his delight at being back on-screen, with one writing: "It’s your duty being in showbiz to use your creative licence!"

"Good to see you back in the big chair, behind the big black desk!" another quipped.

While a third fan joked: "I told you my letter writing campaign would work babe!”

"Such a charmer Ben!" someone else chipped in.

It comes after Ben joined BBC Breakfast as a business correspondent, with Naga Munchetty and Jon Kay left thrilled by the big news – and fans were just as excited.

Ben initially teased the news on Instagram as he wrote: "Something VERY exciting is happening for the first time tomorrow… hence the massive grin!"

In a later video, Ben told the camera: "Well, here is one last clue.

"I am on the famous red sofa. I’m in Salford, with me Naga, Jon, Mike. It’s almost six o’clock so yes, you guessed it, I am very excited. I hope you can join us."

Naga couldn’t resist popped her head in shot and exclaimed: "It’s going to be so much fun!"

Sports presenter Mike Bushell was also quick to welcome Ben to his new job, writing on Twitter: "Welcome @BenMBoulos and impressive video multi-skilling!"

Since then, Ben has been eagerly posting selfies to his socials posing outside various BBC studios – a sharp contrast from a throwback snap he posted on his first day on the job.
