The Britain’s Got Talent judges have announced the wildcard act for Sunday night’s live grand final.
BGT's official page announced on Twitter the morning of the live finale, it was revealed that Amber and The Dancing Collies will be joining the rest of this year’s finalists for the final show of the series, as chosen by Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
They wrote: "The Judges have decided, and our #BGT 2022 WILDCARD is… Amber and The Dancing Collies."
Amber, 25, from the Netherlands, originally missed out on making Sunday’s grand final after a pirate-themed dance routine alongside her two Border Collies, Nymeria and Ruby, which left fans with ‘happy tears’.
While Simon admitted he preferred her audition, at the end of the show, Amber and her canine friends placed in the top three alongside music duo Flintz & T4ylor and comedian Ben Nickless.
While impressionist Ben won the public vote, it was down to the judges to decide between Amber and Flintz & T4ylor – with only Amanda voting to save the dancing dog act.
But now, Amber and her dancing dogs have been given a second chance by the judges.
Reaction to the wildcard announcement was mixed, with several fans on Twitter discussing whether Amber was the right act to be chosen, with many expecting the likes of The Phantom or young singer Immi Davis.
One tweeted: “Poor decision. So many more better acts. Don’t get me wrong, this act is good but I can’t see it being a winner. You’d rather pick an act who has the potential to win it. Such a paw decision!!”
While another added: “Sorry, Amber and the dogs were quite good but not worthy of the wildcard. In fact I’m not sure what the judges were thinking. Time for a change of judges? Think I will give BGT a swerve next year. So many other acts that deserved the wildcard.”
However, others came out in praise of the judges’ decision.
“Superb choice,” wrote a fan. “Was an amazing act. Being able to train dogs to do this is something else. All the people who are moaning try training your dogs and see how hard it is."
Another wrote: “Probably the right decision, Simon comments about the other dog was very harsh best dog act ever IMO. There’s enough singers in the final even though Immi is a little star.”
