In a new Instagram post, Amanda revealed her latest directing venture, sharing a picture of her Waterloo Road pass alongside the caption: ‘Another city, another day, another dollar.’

Amanda left her role as Connie Beauchamp last year, previously telling Metro.co.uk that she’s looking forward to her break from the show:

‘I’ve been on the show coming up to 7 years, our schedules are gruelling, 12 hours a day, so when you do that for 7 years with very few breaks it’s tough.

Because I direct as well, any holiday I would use to go and direct something else, I haven’t actually had any kind of break for about five years, it just felt like it was a good point to step away for a bit.’

Waterloo Road is set to return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year.

Already a variety of cast members have been announced, with Coronation Street stars Rachel Leskovac, Ryan Clayton and Kym Marsh all set to join the show.

Further casting includes Jo Coffey (EastEnders) joining the school as a PA, Vincent Jerome (Sins of Solitude) playing Lindon King, joint Deputy Head with James Baxter (Alma’s Not Normal) cast as Joe Casey – also Deputy Head.

Adam Thomas, Angela Griffin and Katie Griffiths are three former Waterloo Road cast members back to reprise their roles as Donte, Kim Campbell and Chlo.
