The final episode of Channel 5's The Teacher had viewers unimpressed with many confused by the same unanswered question.
In the all-engrossing show, Sheridan Smith has been playing the lead role of the teacher Jenna Garvey, who had been accused of having sex with a pupil in a nightclub toilet during a night out.
Over the last four days, the four-part psychological drama had viewers hooked with its nail-biting storyline.
However with the show's final episode airing on Thursday fans were not happy with its "disappointing ending".
Many were baffled, left with unanswered questions – mainly whether Teacher Jenna was still branded a sex offender or if she ever cleared her name.
One tweeted: "Well, what a waste of time The Teacher was, worst ending I've ever seen."
Another said: "That rushed ending was a letdown. She never got her job back or got the charges dropped? But checked on Kyle to find out his GCSE English Grade?"
In the storyline, Sheridan's character Jenna had blacked out after the work night out, unable to piece the details of the night out together.
After the scandal had been made public, she pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child and, as a result, she lost her job and was put on the Sex Offenders register.
Throughout the series Jenna had been trying to get to the bottom of whether or not she slept with the 15-year-old student Kyle.
During the final episode, she began her investigation into the truth, where she finally found out Kyle had been setting her up – leaving fans baffled as to why.
Jenna later discovered that her close friend Pauline's partner Brian [Ian Puleston-Davies] was also involved.
In 2006 Jenna ratted out another former teacher, Arnold Cleary – disguised as Brian – who had groomed one of his pupils.
15 years on and Brian – who Jenna knew as Arnold – built up a master plan for revenge to get Jenna back for ruining his life.
Realising that Jenna was catching on to the set-up, Brian invited her over, pretending to be the partner of Jenna's close friend Pauline.
The two ended up in an argument, which led to Brian storming out and in mid rant being hit by a lorry.
In the final scene, Jenna went to see Kyle to ask him about his GCSE results before leaving to start her new life.
