CORONATION Street’s Yasmeen Nazir’s hell at the hands of Geoff Metcalfe is going to take a disturbing new twist as he tells everyone she’s an alcoholic to cover his tracks.
The restaurant owner – played by actress Shelley King in the ITV soap – is slowly being separated from her friends and family by manipulative Geoff in the coercive control storyline.
Corrie viewers have watched in horror as the radio DJ’s psychological abuse has escalated over the last few months.
The restaurant owner has been at the heart of a harrowing coercive control storyline that has seen Geoff take control of all aspects of Yasmeen’s life and manipulate her.
Viewers were horrified recently when Geoff bullied Yasmeen at their wedding reception.
The dictator picked out a bit of shell from a crab canape that Yasmeen had served and forced Yasmeen to eat it.
In an upcoming episode, their relationship takes another dark turn as Geoff shows Yasmeen the cleaning rota he’s drawn up and orders her to get cracking.
Cathy bumps into Yasmeen coming out of the shop carrying a load of cleaning products and is suspicious.
It all kicks off when Cathy suggests she comes round for lunch and quizzes Yasmeen about her cleaning obsession.
But when Geoff returns and finds them both tipsy, Cathy notices Yasmeen is on edge and takes her cue to leave.
Geoff has a go at Yasmeen for getting drunk instead of cleaning and she's horrified when he tells her he left a mark on the skirting board as a test to catch her out.
As Geoff and Yasmeen row about her cleaning efforts it gets physical and Geoff falls and hits his face on a table.
As he takes out his anger on Yasmeen, Cathy is stunned to overhear the abuse when she returns to collect her bag and later confides in Brian about what she witnessed.
The next day, Yasmeen is worn out after a night of cleaning.
Brian expresses his concern for Yasmeen to Geoff but the bully is quick to fabricate a story about Yasmeen being an alcoholic.
Brian is shocked and assumes that Yasmeen gave him the black eye.
Geoff returns home and tells Yasmeen he’s worried about her drinking in an attempt to cover his tracks.
Peter – who Geoff has told about Yasmeen's alcohol problems – knocks at the door and invites Yasmeen to join him at one of his meetings.
When Brian and Cathy break the news to Alya, she tells Yasmeen it’s absurd.
Later in the week, things worsen as Geoff continues to watch Yasmeen on CCTV as she cleans No6.
When Yasmeen cooks Geoff dinner, he brings out a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and suggests they share it.
Yasmeen thanks him for being so supportive.
