David Platt (Jack P. Shephard) has always had his ups and downs on Coronation Street, but just as he thought his life was settling down and he had found true love with Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) she was shot by deranged businessman Derek Milligan (Craig Els). To make matters worse, after Shona woke up from the coma, she petitioned for divorce and this has worsened David’s struggle. In upcoming scenes as David gets himself involved with drug dealers, his step-son Max Platt (Harry McDermott) could be taken into foster care.

As viewers know, David’s beloved Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) was stabbed by Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) back in 2016 after months of turmoil.
Kylie and David’s relationship came and went over the years but when Kylie went back to her ex-boyfriend Callum Logan (Sean Ward) she disappeared, only to return to help David fight for custody of Max.
This eventually led to Callum’s murder and shortly after Kylie was stabbed in the middle of the street and she died in David’s arms, leaving Max and Lily (Lilly Bushell) motherless and David having to question his ability to be a single parent.

David muddled along with the help of his mum Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth), but after tragedy struck once again at Christmas, David was pushed to the brink.
Shona Ramsey was shot by Derek as he went on a rampage looking for Gary Windass (Mikey North).
Shona was left in a coma, but when she woke up she was left with little memory of David and the relationship quickly nose-dived, made worse when she asked for a divorce.
However, in the last couple of weeks David’s behaviour has got more and more erratic, could this be the end of Max and David’s relationship?
Tonight on the ITV show, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) returned to the cobbles and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) invited them all to a fancy meal.
Max and David went to the cafe to discuss the very important speech Max had been asked to write for school that afternoon, but David could barely keep his eyes open.
Later at home, David spoke to Nick on the phone and explained that he would definitely be at the meal but he needed to sleep first promising he wouldn’t miss Max’s speech or the dinner.
However, in upcoming scenes, David is going to get into bother with some drug dealers, threatening his chances of keeping Max.

If David continues not to be able to sleep properly trying to forget about Shona this could be the end of his relationship with not just his family but Max two if he starts taking drugs.
David was recently mugged by a gang who held him at knifepoint and demanded he hand over his phone and wallet.
In upcoming scenes, however, with his behaviour getting more and more volatile he will go and confront them, but is there more to the confrontation than first meets the eye?

Max has also been struggling since Shona left as he finally thought he had a proper mother figure to look up to after losing his own.
However, if David isn’t able to get his act together and starts bringing drugs and threats into the house, Max is at risk of being put into foster care.
