Corrie fans in tears as Sinead realises she's 'on the home stretch' and could die any day

CORONATION Street fans were left sobbing as Sinead Tinker told husband Daniel Osbourne they were "on the home stretch" in tonight's emotional episode.

The cancer-stricken mum had viewers in tears as she enjoyed a movie night with Daniel and their son – conscious that it would be one of their last.

The heart-wrenching moment came as the severity of Sinead's illness hit her hard when she was forced to use a wheelchair to get to a family picnic.

Despite her best efforts to join in a game of charades with her family, it quickly became apparent she was too poorly to join and had to be taken home.

Sinead later trapped herself in her bedroom too ashamed for her husband to see her in such a bad state.

But the real tear-jerking moment came later in the episode when Daniel – clutching their son – asked her if she wanted to watch a movie.

Feeling deflated, Sinead warned Daniel that she might not have the energy to make it through a whole film, prompting Daniel to suggest they watch just half a flick.

The pair then discuss popcorn and eating habits at the cinema, with Sinead remarking: "Crisp drive me mad at the cinema. That's something I won't have to put up with anymore."

"Don't say that," Daniel responded.

Tugging at heartstrings everywhere, Sinead then said: "Silver linings. We're on the home stretch…

"I know we are," a visibly heartbroken Daniel replied.

The moment instantly had viewers in tears, with one commenting: "Awww Sinead ??"

Another wrote: "Sinead is breaking my heart ? @KatiexMcGlynn is an amazing actress #Corrie"

A third chimed: "Poor Sinead ☹ quite right Daniel "look up at the sky" ? #Corrie"

The ITV soap will air 26 year-old Katie's final scenes next week but the actress revealed at a recent screening of the episode that her mum Ruth and dad Trevor can't watch the harrowing cancer storyline.

The actress told the Daily Star: “I’ve not been able to watch any of it with my family. My mum’s been really struggling watching it and my dad’s already said that he’s definitely not going to watch it.

"My mum is very similar to me. She’s watched Sinead and she’s a massive fan of the show. She feels sad about the story and it’s me, her daughter dying, and I think she’s upset that I’m leaving."

Katie went on to reveal that she found it so traumatic filming her final scenes, which see Sinead lose her battle with cervical cancer, that she couldn't say her lines.

She explained: "I couldn’t say those last few words. I don’t know what came over me. I just burst into tears. I felt so embarrassed because I’m not an emotional person. I’m not one to cry at the drop of a hat.
