Dan Walker calls out Channel 5 co-star’s ‘fake behaviour’ after leaving BBC

Dan Walker has called out his Channel 5 co-star’s “fake” behaviour in a very cheeky Instagram post.

The star quit his job at BBC Breakfast back in April this year, with his final show airing in May 2022 – leaving avid BBC viewers devastated to see him go.

But it looks as though Dan is settling in nicely with his new Channel 5 News co-stars, and he doesn’t mind teasing them either.

Sharing a snap of him and his co-presenter Tessa Chapman preparing for work in the studio, Dan could be seen leaning over a table with a huge grin as Tessa worked at an iPad.

Dan wowed in his usual navy blue suit and a white spotted tie over a white dress shirt, while Tessa opted for a smart blue blouse while tapping away at her tablet.

Cheekily captioning his Instagram Stories snap, Dan wrote: “See you on the telly…”

Adding: “Definite fake typing…” and tagging in Tessa.

Later, he followed up with a hilarious snap in which Dan stood with one foot up on a desk and his hand resting on his knee in a classic adventurer pose as Tessa snapped a selfie closer to the camera lens.

Dan admitted: “I cannot explain this…”

It comes as Dan confessed he “misses” his BBC Breakfast co-stars in a candid Q&A with his Instagram followers.

One fan quizzed him: “Do you miss the early morning broadcasting?” as Dan’s new job starts at a rather more sensible time of 5pm on 5 News.

The presenter replied: “I miss Carol, Sally and the rest of the Breakfast team. I love them, and the show, to bits.

“But it was time for a new challenge and I’m really enjoying @C5News.”

Speaking of his decision to leave amid rumours of an increase in pay, Dan was keen to put the record straight as he said: “It is often the case that the simple truth is much duller than all the made-up ‘moles’ and so-called ‘sources’ claim.

"In a nutshell… a bloke with a really good job, which he loved, got offered a really good job somewhere else which provided an amazing new challenge and the opportunity to make some exciting telly.

“The bloke explained to his current employers that, even though it was a tough decision, he had decided to leave.

“They are now trying their best to allow him to make a dignified departure.”
