Although the steamy new Netflix thriller amassed a surprising body count in season one, the cast of Dead To Me’s second season met during a Facebook video chat to show their support for a vital charity saving lives during the current COVID crisis.
Worldwide streaming service Netflix has become the number one spot for exciting new miniseries and inventive dramas.
Attracting some of the best TV casts in the business, last year’s Dead To Me paired comedy legends Christina Applegate (Anchorman) and Linda Cardellini (The Avengers) for one of the twistiest murder mysteries of recent years.
Headed by Liz Feldman, the dark comedy returns tonight with a gripping second season that promises to be as unpredictable as the series’ first instalment.
Spoilers for season one ahead – the gripping finale concluded with the shocking death of Judy Hale’s (Cardellini) ex-fiance Steve (James Marsden).

The next season is set to pick up right where the first instalment left off, with Jen Harding (Applegate) and Judy struggling to decide what to do with Steve’s corpse as it floats in Jen’s swimming pool.
The cast of Netflix’s sensational new thriller connected via a Zoom call ahead of season two’s premiere to perform a live table read of Dead to Me’s pilot episode.
As well as taking the time to promote the second season with a live Q&A, the Facebook event raised money for the nonprofit World Central Kitchen, which is providing food relief during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Celebrity chef at the head of the organisation, José Andrés, confirmed WCK had so far delivered over 6 million food packages since the coronavirus outbreak.
The second season of Netflix’s must-watch thriller is set to provide a welcome distraction from the ongoing lockdown when it airs this weekend.
Plot details have been kept under wraps, but a recent trailer confirmed more frantic cover-ups, law enforcement on their tales and a member of the suburban neighbourhood discovering more about Jen and Judy’s crimes than they should.
Although the cast and showrunner of Dead To Me’s second season remained tight-lipped about any spoilers for season two, Liz did confirm major moments to come for the series’ youngest cast members, Sam McCarthy and Luke Roessler.
Sam and Luke portray Jen’s elder son Charlie and the younger Henry respectively, who respond in wildly different ways to the death of their father and Jen’s adulterous husband, Ted.

Liz Feldman commented: “Just so you know, in season two, just wait. Sam McCarthy; so good!
“He really brings it, and I’m so excited for people to see him do his thing. There’s a really fun scene coming up.”
Sam also revealed Charlie’s hardened and emotionally unavailable exterior displayed in season one will start to fall away in the upcoming episodes.
The young star added: “When you get to know Charlie, and he eventually opens up as people will see in season two, he’s kind of a sweet guy.”

Linda Cardellini also added: “The writing was so much fun, and it wasn’t like anything else. You couldn’t quite tell where it was going to go.”
As well as thrilling twists and morbid comedy, the series was praised for its raw portrayal of grief in the wake of heartbreaking life events which is set to become even more poignant in the upcoming new season.
