Death in Paradise star Ralf Little admits I can barely function

Ralf Little gets his hair dried

Death in Paradise star Ralf Little revealed life isn’t always easy filming in Guadeloupe for the iconic BBC drama.

The English TV favourite took to Instagram recently with an amusing video of himself getting his hair dried in between takes.

Already enduring the Caribbean’s scorching tropical climate, Little was left “dripping with sweat” under the hairdryer.

“Boiling,” he said to the camera. “Can barely function.

“And then Sinead has to put a hot hair dryer on me because I get sweat in my barnet.”

The star let out an “Ow!” when the dryer got too close, but smiled at the camera to assure his followers he wasn’t hurt.

The TV star added in the post’s caption: “It’s not all glitz and glam in paradise!”

Temperatures frequently exceed 30 degrees in Guadeloupe at this time of year.

If Ralf and the rest of the cast get too sweaty there’s a chance it’ll ruin the take, so the dryer comes into play to make sure they’re not too damp.

His latest behind-the-scenes banter comes shortly after he revealed another hair-raising moment, this time with his stylist Dionne.

“For the sake of clarity, are you covering up grey hairs?” he asked as Dionne gave him a comb.

“No… dyed hair where it’s gone brown in the sun,” Dionne replied.

“It’s gone very light brown in the sun so we need to darken it down so it needs to match,” he explained.

“Just in case anyone is passing by watching thinking, ‘are you covering up his bald patch?’ Not yet. Give it two years.”

After series 12 wrapped up earlier this year, the BBC confirmed two more outings and two Christmas specials are already in the works.

Production on series 13 was announced in early May with a picture of a clapperboard in a swimming pool.

Executive producer Tim Key said in a statement: “The response to series 12 has been incredible, so we’re delighted that we’ll be heading back to Guadeloupe for at least two more series.

“We’ve got an amazing and joyful Christmas special in store, and then series 13 begins with our 100th episode, so we’ve got plenty of surprises ready to celebrate that milestone.

“We’ve got huge plans for the future and can’t wait to get going again.”

Death in Paradise is available on BBC iPlayer.
