EAMONN Holmes has been forced to take a break from TV to undergo a vital operation.
The former This Morning star, 62, has explained that surgeons will cut into his back in a bid to ease the pain he has been experiencing.
Earlier this year, Eamonn was rushed to hospital for "unexpected" and emergency treatment on his back – which causes his chronic pain.
He suffered a slipped disk in his back last year in a freak accident, and told how sleep is his "only escape" from the agony he was suffering.
Now, in a new update, the star has said he will undergo the operation tomorrow and miss his slot on GB News, in a bid to turn his life around and “prays that God will guide [his] surgeon’s hand this week” to help him get back to the “man he used to be.”
Eamonn shared: “This week a surgeon will cut into my back to hopefully relieve pressure on my sciatic nerves.

“It’s an operation that carries a 20 per cent risk of going wrong, but such is the pain and restrictions that I have been suffering for the past 18 months, I’ve decided it is a risk I am willing to take.
“In fact, it’s a risk I want to take because, at this moment in time, nothing could seem worse than the constant pain that runs through my lower back and legs.”
He continued to tell Express.co.uk that he’s “sorry we have a pain epidemic in the country” as he added: “In many ways, I am fortunate. However horrible the pain is at times, there are lots of other people out there who have it far worse than I do.
“I know this because they write to me every day on social media and tell me how they are getting on or, in a lot of cases, how much they are suffering.
“Often for those of us who suffer, night-time is the worst. Sleep can be an escape. But so often it is illusive. A couple of years ago, during one particular agonising night, I took to social media almost to try to ease my pain.”
Eamonn said he’d reached out at the time to see if anyone else could “understand” what he was going through, and shared that responses went “off the scale” at the time.
He added: “You can be surrounded by family and friends and yet the pain is exclusive to you. It is your companion.
“It’s like living with the enemy. Often nothing helps. Often chronic pain sufferers ask for tablets for release. But often the doctors say ‘no’ because of side effects.”
The TV presenter finished by writing: “I want my back fixed and my life back. I want to offer a good luck story to all of you who feel that you can no longer deal with your depression, your crying, your anger and that constant question of “why me?”
The update comes after Eamonn left fans worried recently as he opened up on his chronic pain after sharing a snap of himself and his co-host Isabel Webster outside Buckingham Palace.

The TV presenter spent the day on his feet as he hosted the special GB News show following The Queen's funeral.
However, he had his fans worried he had worked too hard after he opened up about suffering from chronic pain after the broadcast.
He wrote to his social media followers at the time: "Hello all my chronic pain sufferers. I know it's not much help but it does help a little I feel to know we are not alone.
"Therefore from time to time I make these posts so some of you can share stories and just talk to someone who knows what you are going through."
