EastEnders fans disappointed as BBC One soap airs exit for one character

EastEnders viewers were left "disappointed" on Wednesday's episode as fan favourite, Finlay Baker, played by Ashley Byam, left Walford.

Finlay, who first made his appearance in July 2022, has recently found himself caught in a feud with the Panesar family after Vinny tampered his car.

And in a further twist, it was revealed that Finlay wasn't the intended victim and it was in fact Eve Unwin, who has been having an affair with Suki Panesar, as she was supposed to drive the vehicle.

After learning too much information and asking too many questions, Suki asked Ravi Gulati to threaten Finlay in a bid to scare him from saying anything to the police, also demanding he leave Albert Square for good.

During Wednesday's episode, Finlay demanded money from Suki in exchange for leaving Walford or else he would reveal all to Eve.

Leaving Suki spooked, she eventually caved into his demands and later Finlay enjoyed a final drink with his family before driving off in his dad's old car.

EastEnders fans were left disappointed to see fan favourite, Finlay, leave as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One person said: "I hope Finlay isn't leaving great character and actor hope he can sort this maybe tell Jack."

A different account put: "So does that mean Finlay really is leaving… disappointing they didn’t do more with his character #EastEnders."

Another viewer wrote: "Looks like Finlay's leaving this week then! Shame cos he's really shown he's a good actor. #EastEnders."

While a different soap fan added: "Finlay had a lot of potential. A good storyline was what he needed. Shame. #EastEnders."

It comes as EastEnders fans said they were "broken" and "in bits" after Tuesday's episode as Albert Square said their final goodbyes to Lola Pearce at her emotional and heartbreaking funeral.

In emotional scenes on 27 June, the funeral car drove through the Square on its way to the church while residents gathered around and clapped for Lola, while some people placed flowers onto the vehicle as it passed by.

Lola, played by Danielle Harold, took her final breaths on the show in May when she lost her battle with brain cancer.

The hairdresser, mother and granddaughter of Billy Mitchell, received the heart-breaking diagnosis last year and was told that she had just months to live before getting married to partner Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).

EastEnders continues on Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
