EastEnders Josh stars life – rival soap role, hair makeover and hunky snaps

Former EastEnders star Eddie Eyre played Josh Hemmings and first appeared on the BBC soap as a love interest for Lauren Branning.

Josh, son of James Willmott-Brown, arrived in Walford in 2017 and soon began a relationship with Lauren.

But around a year later he left the soap after announcing a move to Glasgow following a lucrative job offer – while Lauren also departed Walford for a fresh start.

But who is Eddie Eyre?

Daily Star examines everything you need to know about the actor – from his other roles including Game of Thrones, to the hunky snaps he shares online.

Who is Eddie Eyre?

Eddie was educated at Abingdon School from 1999 to 2006 and has appeared in both the stage and screen.

Before his TV roles, he appeared in a string of stage shows, such as Women of Troy, Mansfield Park and The Seagull.

Eddied then hit the big time – making his West End debut in St Martin's Theatre playing Sergeant Trotter in the Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.

He first appeared in a BBC show as Baz in a short film for BBC Bitesize before landing his Eastenders role.

Since appearing on Eastenders he has made guest appearances in The Athena and Ransom as Casper Conway and Rob Cooper, respectively.

His most recent appearance was last week in rival BBC soap Doctors series in a cameo as bar manager Steve Hedges.

Looking back at his time on Eastenders, Eddie told Digital Spy he only has happy memories.

He said: "I had a brilliant time there. It's such a great cast and crew. I really enjoyed playing Josh. Working on a show like EastEnders, or any other continuing drama, is such a good experience for a young actor who's wanting camera experience. I had a great time."

Little is know about Eddie's private life or relationship.

But what is is clear is the actor is a huge fitness fanatic as he often takes to Instagram to share hunky snaps of him working out.

He has also undergone several hair transformations, having previously sported long curly locks, slicked back hair in a pony tail, to his current short and tidy barnet.

Game of Thrones

Eddie was well known to many soap fans when he first appeared in Walford, as he played Ser Gerold Hightower in HBO's epic series Game of Thrones.

Gerold, the Lord Commander of the kingsguard during Kings Aerys II Targaryen and Jaehaerys II Targaryen's reigns, was killed while guarding Lyanna's tower in a flashback shown to Bran Stark.

Speaking of his role, Eddie said: "It was brilliant. I was a fan of it before I was in it. That's the kind of work that I love doing – the big epic stuff.

"Again, I got to wear a costume! I also got to do a sword fight, which I loved, because I enjoy the action stuff – it's right up my street.

"It was so different to doing EastEnders, because on Game of Thrones you'd have a week to shoot the scene. On EastEnders, the pace was a lot quicker – there was one day when I did 16 scenes."
