EastEnders Rose Thorne theories – from Cindy Beale arrival to abuse allegations

EastEnders is about to finally reveal the truth about Rose Knight but speculation has already been growing regarding her identity from eager fans.

The Knights family, which includes dad George and his daughter Anna and Gina, arrived on The Square with a big secret that has yet to be unravelled.

The BBC has confirmed that the episodes on Wednesday (21st June 2023) and Thursday (22nd June 2023) will not be released on BBC iPlayer early as the truth about Rose will be exposed.

In addition to this, the second of these episodes will also be extended in length and fans will get to see the truth about the Knight family and the missing matriarch Rose.

But as the tension continues to build, Daily Star has taken a look through some of the theories that have continued to circulate online.

Rose Knight is Cindy Beale

After it came to light that actress Michelle Collins would be reprising her role as the presumably dead Cindy Beale, fans seem to think that Rose is in fact Cindy herself.

This came as viewers appeared to notice a connection to Cindy in the trailer for what's to come.

Eagle-eyed fans realised that the name Ros Thorne appeared on screen if the letter 'e' was removed from the word Rose.

Die-hard fans might remember Ros Thorne who was a private investigator hired by Ian in 1997 to track down Cindy and their two sons Steven and Peter Beale.

The trio had fled the country after Cindy hired a hitman to kill Ian.

Ros eventually did track down Cindy to Italy and Ian was able to take his sons with help from his stepfather Phil Mitchell.

Jewellery Box

Earlier this month, sisters Anna and Gina were seen rowing over a jewellery box that belonged to their mum, however they both were not allowed to have it.

Upset by the dispute, Anna said she needed something to remember her mother by, but it was also evident they were keeping the possession discreet.

This has led viewers to speculate whether there was more importance regarding the box, and the contents inside of it before they finally find out what happened to Rose.

However, some fans have linked the box to the upcoming Christmas Day death, believing the contents could be something that viewers saw in the recent flashforward clip.

In the clip, a man was seen lying helpless on the pub floor while six female characters surrounded him.

George Killed his wife

Fans also seem to think that George, who is Rose's husband may have killed his wife and failed to tell anyone including his daughters.

Heading over to Twitter, fans shared their theories on the matter.

One fan wrote: "George killed his wife and buried her under the patio at his bar in Spain, this will be revealed through the next 6 months and it will be him dead at Christmas and not Nish."

While another said: "I feel like that George guy killed his wife."

Abuse allegations

Some viewers seem to think the family may have been escaping abuse but seem to think Rose may have been abusive to George.

While settling in George explained that he was looking for a "fresh start" but this rang alarm bells for some spectators.

Heading over to Twitter again, one person said: "With the way Gina and Anna were talking about their mum and the way George seems so determined to paint their past relationship as great but the family need a “fresh start” is starting to make me wonder if Rose was abusive to him and he’s just deep in denial."

And another echoed: "I wonder if "Rose" was abusive towards George? That's the only reason I can think of why he would not want to talk about her."
