ITV soap Emmerdale sees Wendy Posner (played by Susan Cookson) reappear tonight (September 5) as Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) faces his day in court for the attack on her son, Lee (Kris Mochrie). She first entered the Dales earlier this year to confront Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) after accused her son of rape, a crime she denies despite viewers knowing of his guilt. While it’s Cookson’s first venture into soapland, there’s a number of reasons why soap fans recognise her.
Speaking about the storyline between Victoria and Lee, Hodgins told The Sun: “Victoria is shocked and scared when she sees Wendy. She’s in the pub toilets and then this woman starts looking at her.”
The soap star continued: “Wendy then says: ‘We need to talk about all these lies you’ve been telling.’
“So straight away Victoria knows that Wendy is an enemy.”
She added: “She has her son’s best interests at heart, which is the exact opposite of Victoria’s stance. So it’s going to be difficult from the off.”
Wendy looks likely to be sticking around in the village for a little while yet and could cause more heartache for Victoria.
Emmerdale fans will remember Victoria’s assault took place during the Big Night Out week when a number of residents when to a club in Hotten leading to disastrous consequences.
