Emmerdale fans will remember how Aaron headed on a downward spiral after his husband Robert was sent to prison for the murder of Victoria’s rapist Lee Posner last year.
Aaron then got another kick in the teeth when Robert’s solicitor contacted him to start divorce proceedings.
Viewers also know that Cain is battling his own demons after demanding a divorce from Moira after she slept with his son Nate – despite seemingly still having feelings for her.
Next weeks episodes of Emmerdale will see Cain and Aaron try and adjust to life in lockdown.
But when Aaron tries to talk, Cain is adamant that even coronavirus won't get him opening up about his feelings.
When a letter arrives with a prison stamp on it, Cain fears it will send Aaron on a downward spiral again and hides the letter in a magazine.
But it all kicks off later in the week when a drunk Cain lets slip that Aaron has received a letter from Robert.
When Cain can’t remember where he’s put it, Aaron rages at him and makes some harsh remarks about him and Moira.
Later, Cain attempts to apologise but still struggles to open up and talk to Aaron about his feelings.
How will Aaron cope with the letter?
And will Cain open up about his feelings for Moira before it's too late?
Speaking about why his character Cain hides the letter, actor Jeff Hordley said: “He knows Aaron well and he fears that in Cain’s words he will ‘overthink things and go down a rabbit hole’ – which is a quote from the script.
“Cain is just scared his nephew is going to react badly to this letter so he decides for better or for worse to hide it from him.”
Speaking about why Cain struggles to express his feelings, Jeff added: “It is just not in Cain’s DNA to open up to people, but in this episode Aaron carefully constructs a way to try and get him to open up.”
