When Meena Jutla first stepped into the village we’d never have believed she’d have been capable of murder. Seemingly the caring nurse all sweetness and light at first with a bit of a playful, mischievous side… but murder?
Surely not. Bring an unlikely villain to the village and we have one of the most engaging, edge of your seat storylines that keeps us believing that maybe Meena would never be caught – but baddies always are eventually.
So it would seem. There is no denying Meena is smart, calculating, manipulative and has so far been on top of her game but now Meena is behind bars it stands to reason she is feeling desperate; and in desperate times come desperate measures.
It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt, a turn of phrase that is certainly unfamiliar to psychotic Meena. The fun and games had only just begun for the serial killer and if one murder wasn’t enough to satisfy her, it wasn’t long before Meena sought out other innocent victims to play cat and mouse with.
Viewers have watched for months as evil Meena kills for sport and with this, comes a sense of empowerment and thrill out of the way that she has brutally claimed the lives of several much-loved characters in the village, relishing in the pain and devastation that she has left behind.
Meena will no doubt leave her mark as one of Emmerdale’s most iconic villains and as the audience anxiously await Meena’s hopeful demise here are 7 ways in which Meena’s story could go next:
Manpreet Framed
Revenge is a dish best served cold and ruthless Meena has proved she will stop at nothing to make her sister Manpreet’s life hell. Poor Manpreet has suffered immense trauma at the hands of her unhinged sister.
Meena had held Manpreet hostage, poisoning her and had planned to kill her own flesh and blood. We were deeply mistaken if we thought for one second that even Manpreet would escape Meena’s wrath. As if kidnapping her sister wasn’t enough, Meena is far from finished with her.
Could Meena manage to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes by concocting a story that would put Manpreet at the forefront of a murder?
Meena is inevitably due to face trial and when sentencing comes around, she’ll be hell bent on taking Manpreet down with her. Could Manpreet be joining her sister behind bars?
Escape
She has fled the village once and made her return, might she manage to do it again and never look back this time? If Meena makes her escape I cannot imagine that she would get very far.
I can see it now, the smug grin on her face as she believes she has outwitted those who have stood in her way and looking forward to a potential life on the run. Perhaps finding other innocent victims to torment along the way.
An escape could well be short lived but with this could come a massive showdown that would see Meena face to face with none other than the villagers whose family members she has ripped away from them.
What better way than to see her finally confronted and taken down by the very people she had managed to hoodwink all that time? Now they all know the truth, Meena has a lot to answer for.
Meena Dies
It is not uncommon in soap for the villain to leave by the very means they had began their story in the first place. It might seem like the easy way out for Meena to be killed off but would it make all the difference in the ways in which this might be carried out? With a few suspects in mind, I could see one of Meena’s many enemies in the village out for her blood .
Jacob Gallagher has been torn apart by the revelation that Meena had killed girlfriend Leanna and was devastated to think that she had removed Leanna’s ring from her corpse. I could certainly see him seeing red if he had the opportunity to confront Meena face to face.
If Meena does manage to make her great escape from prison this may well be a possibility. Will Meena end her reign of terror by leaving in a body bag? Could a ‘Who Killed Meena Jutla?’ storyline be on the horizon? What a bittersweet ending beyond the grave for Meena that even when dead she leaves behind chaos and turmoil.
Trial Drama
We all love a good soap trial. The intense interrogations and the anxious feeling in the pits of our stomachs as we await the verdict that could finally see Meena bang to rights. Could the pressure of a trial become too much for Meena?
It is well known that she has so far had an answer for everything, but we have been witness to her childlike outbursts in previous episodes as she reacts to the walls seemingly closing in on her and her plans close to being foiled. Though, before too long the cogs are turning and Meena has often managed to spin a web of lies forcing people to second guess themselves. How will Meena react with interrogation under pressure?
Will the cracks start to show as she stands trial or could Meena put on the performance of a lifetime and manage to flip the tables once again?
Liam exposes all of her killings
Viewers will know that recently Liam and Leyla were the ones to find Meena’s box of momentos that was the key to uncovering all the evidence the police needed to connect Meena to the murders of Leanna Cavanagh, Ben Tucker and Andrea Tate.
Liam has a keen interest in murder mysteries and when he was interrogated by the police following pushing Meena from the very bridge Meena had killed daughter Leanna, he had said to the officer questioning him that he was nervous and had never done this before except when it’s not real.
”I like roleplaying” he stated and perhaps this was simply for comedic value but desperately wanting justice for the brutal murder of his daughter he could pull something out of the bag to expose Meena’s killings and solve this case once and for all. Even Sherlock Holmes himself would be proud.
She kills again
After Meena left the village when her crimes had begun to surface, no one in the village thought she would have come back. Meena does not seem to have a fear factor and it was a bold move for her to risk coming back to the village the first time around. If she was to return yet again, I wouldn’t put it past her come back all guns blazing.
Viewers will know Meena had been determined to kill Billy and Dawn on their wedding day as she crashed their special day dressed to kill if you’ll pardon the pun. Her plans were somewhat thwarted however when she was unexpectedly interrupted when Leyla appeared and was at the receiving end of a bullet. Meena could be back full of vengeance to commit one final murder and finish what she started.
She confesses
Perhaps the unlikeliest of outcomes, but with her plea hearing approaching Charles has gained a confession from Meena for Andrea’s murder. She cruelly taunted him with the sordid truth of how she carried out the deed. Saying it is one thing, but this will need to be proved in the court room. With a case of her word against his, it would seem Meena must plead guilty to her crimes for the villagers to receive the justice they so deserve.
It is hard to believe Meena would ever confess to her crimes in front of a jury but never say never. Will Meena finally be beaten at her own game leading her to slip up? Time will tell.
Whatever the outcome will be of Meena’s story we can bet it will be a huge spectacle. Meena has managed to escape the clutches of justice for way too long. Is the end in sight or might she have a few more tricks up her sleeve?
