FEAR The Walking Dead, like most TV shows, saw production grind to a halt earlier this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Studios the world over were forced to shut down filming as casts and crews went into isolation to prevent the spread of the disease.
However, Lennie James, who plays Morgan on both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead, had claimed that the latter is making plans for shooting to resume.
"We have no official restart time, but everything is still moving as if we will be back,” he told Digital Spy.
"AMC, who is the network in charge of the show, are in consultation with experts to find the safest and best way, and the most functional way, of not just restarting, but restarting safely, and finding a way to remain safe,” he added.
However, he expressed some concerns about how social distancing could be implemented on a practical level on a show where zombie hordes are part and parcel of the action.
"The specifics of our show mean that we have a slightly different dynamic about how we could possibly incorporate, you know, social distancing,” he continued.
“It's really not possible, certainly as far as in front of camera is concerned.”
In fact, he said coronavirus testing was the only way forward he could see for AMC to pick up where they left off.
"I don’t think we could realistically go back to work until we have a reliable, quick test that gives a result as quickly as possible, but also one that's cheap enough that we could repeat it every day or every two days, depending on what the best health advice is," he concluded.
James isn’t the first cast member to discuss how coronavirus will affect Fear The Walking Dead’s upcoming sixth season.
Danay Garcia, 35, told ComicBook.com's Talking Shop that AMC will have to make some alterations to their workspace once they are able to return.
"I'm assuming that the whole entire process of work will change completely," she stated.
“I'm assuming that for things like lunch together, we're not gonna be able to be to eat in one place eating lunch.
"And now this entire situation of like social distancing and all that, I'm sure when if we come back, the rules are gonna have to change, 100%."
The star, who plays Luciana Galvez on the show, explained that they were right in the middle of filming new scenes when coronavirus news broke and were sent home within a couple of weeks.
She said: "We kinda knew that it was coming to an end. Because, Fear the Walking Dead or any production were minimum 80 people, minimum, on a light day.
“Imagine with all the walkers and background artists, it goes into 150 people. It just became obvious that we're gonna shut down, for sure. It just happened in a matter of two weeks, to be honest."
Fear the Walking Dead airs on FOX in the UK and AMC in the US. You can also catch up on the show via NOW TV.
