Frozen 2: Elsa star drops bombshell about ANOTHER sequel – Could fans be getting Frozen 3?

Frozen 2 saw Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) return, along with her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristof (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Sven the reindeer, this time on the hunt for answers about the origin of her magic powers. Six years after the beloved characters first came to the big screen, Disney brought them back to delve deeper into Elsa’s identity. But what about the rest of the story?

Frozen fans are desperate to know if the tale will continue in the future following the success of the first two films.

While directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have been coy about the possibility of a Frozen 3, Elsa star Menzel has revealed, in no uncertain terms, where she stands on the matter.

In a new interview with Parade, the actress said she could see there being more to the story.

“I can see a Frozen 3. I can see a Frozen 3, 4, and 5, it’s whether they want to make them,” she said. “I’m happy to be involved.”

When the interviewer noted how everything seemed wrapped up at the end of the first movie, similar to the way Frozen 2 leaves things and how this could mean there’s still hope for further sequels, Menzel replied: “Exactly.

“What I find so commendable is that the creative team waited a really long time to make sure that they had the right story and weren’t exploiting it just for a sequel.

“They really waited until they had the right ideas and formed them and took their time with that, and I believe that that’s why it’s equally as good,” she added.

Gushing about Frozen, the Elsa actress went on to say: “It’s a celebration of this sisterhood and this unconditional love, and also of finding the love for oneself in celebrating who you are and what makes you special and unique in the world.

“That’s inherent in both films, and the fact that they’re not reliant on Prince Charming to come in and save the day. So, the climate is changing for the better, I hope.

“The movie is resonating on an exponential level, and it seems to be evolving or growing with the zeitgeist,” she noted.

“That’s probably the reason I’m most proud of being involved with the film is that it’s breaking the rules — Disney rules, societal rules — when it comes to what’s expected from a film with young women.”

Elsewhere, director Lee has hinted this could be the end of the Frozen franchise, telling Digital Spy: “For us, this feels like what we set out to accomplish.”

“It feels like the end, but the first one felt like the end when we did it,” she conceded. “We don’t know.

“I think, right now, it feels like the end.”

When quizzed about whether Elsa could yet get a girlfriend in a future film, the second movie having once again avoided any focus on her romantic life, she previously told Entertainment Tonight she wasn’t looking past Frozen 2 when it came to the storyline.

“I don’t know if it’ll fit in the future,” she said. “We haven’t asked that questions and I’m not stretching past Frozen 2 about what happens to these characters in their lives!”

Though the second film received some mixed reviews, it was widely accepted to be a big hit with audiences following the incredible success of the original.

The sequel boasts an impressive 77 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and smash records at the box office, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.

Menzel recently made a big revelation about Frozen 2, telling Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast: “I would just go on the record saying I think that this film is better than the first.

“I do, I love it, you know? I just, I love it.”
