CHARLOTTE Hawkins has joked that Good Morning Britain viewers come up to her in public and beg her to "slap Piers Morgan in the face".
The 44-year-old newsreader shares a desk with Piers and Susanna Reid on the ITV breakfast show and revealed fans of the show either "love or hate" her loud-mouthed colleague.
Charlotte said of working with Piers, 54: "It is quite extraordinary.
"Apart from being asked what time I get up in the morning, the next most commonly 'What is it like working with Piers?'
"And sometimes people come up to me in the supermarket and say, 'Give him a slap from me' and I don’t know what they’re talking about – then I realise they mean Piers.
"It’s funny seeing those reactions. People either love him or hate him, it’s fair to say."
Charlotte began her broadcasting career with ITN in 1999 as a newsreader and reporter for LBC Radio.
She joined Good Morning Britain in 2014 and bagged her own Classc FM music show on Sunday afternoons last year.
Despite being shocked on a weekly basis by by Piers' comments on live telly, she admitted varied her career has been a "dream come true".
She said: "I’ve been really lucky. I started off in radio, then got a job at ITV Meridian and then I was a reporter and a presenter.
"Working at Sky News for seven years was incredible – and now GMB. If you’d have told me that I’d be doing this when I was a child, I wouldn’t have believed you."
She added: "It’s been a dream come true for me."
But Charlotte has a secret ambition to become an actress and is desperate to join Death in Paradise starring Danny John-Julesa and Ardall O'Hanlon.

She added to TV Mag: "As a child, I wanted to do acting as well, so it would be amazing if I got to do that some day.
"I tried to get myself a part on Death In Paradise the other day, but I’m still working on that one.
"I was in the film Burnt with Bradley Cooper, playing a presenter, so it wasn’t a huge leap into acting but it was great to act in a film with him. I can tick that off my list."
