HOLLYOAKS star Lysette Anthony appeared to let slip her character Marnie would die two months before she was killed off.
In November the actress, 58, shared a pensive selfie and wrote: “So many memories, a glut of years… I have done my best. That matters #soaplife”.
Fans were quick to question her over a potential exit after her comments sparked a frenzy among viewers of the show.
One posted: “Are you leaving Hollyoaks? I LOVE Marnie she is iconic.”
While another wrote: “Hope you’re not leaving! Love Marnie.”
And someone else added: “No! Don’t tell me they r not renewing your contract as well? Oh Lysette. Stability doesn’t exist! Going thru the same process. Do not hope it’s true.”

Lysette, who has been on the soap since 2016, did try and throw the fans off the scent after her apparent faux pas by replying: “Aw… thank you! That means the world. I signed a 2 year contract with Hollyoaks in March, or was it February? I am hopeless with precise dates. Which is why God invented diaries.”
She hinted at an exit again in December after she posted a tribute video to her on screen family, which many fans took as a major clue that she was leaving in the New Year.
The actress was killed off at the start of the week and has shocked fans with a series of explosive claims about the soap.
She said she was “gagged, silenced, suspended and fined” by bosses in “18 months of humiliation and hell”.
Posting on Instagram, Lysette raged with a screenshot of a report about the race row that engulfed Hollyoaks in 2020.
At the time actress Rachel Adedeji hit out at Hollyoaks over their treatment of black cast and crew members – causing an investigation and widespread changes at the soap.
