Liam Donovan’s (Jude Monk McGowan) thirst for revenge led him to a pretty dark place in Hollyoaks, and — as he attempted to exact said revenge during tonight’s spectacular episode — he ultimately paid the price, as he was killed by sister Grace Black (Tamara Wall) in shocking scenes.
Liam became hellbent on exacting murderous revenge on all those who’d harmed both he and his family, and — as the weeks progressed — it became more and more apparent that he was reaching the point of no return.
During tonight’s episode, he took all those he geld responsible for ruining his life hostage in The Dog. The guests of honour included Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), Maxine Kinsella (Nikki Sanderson), and beloved sister Grace.
His sick games proved to Grace that her sibling had gone too far, and — when given the opportunity to do so — she ultimately chose to put an end to his reign of terror, as he fell down the stairs of The Dog’s cellar — hitting his head amid the descent.
Liam’s death will no doubt result in plenty of tears among Hollyoaks fans, and actor Jude reflected on his time on the show, saying: ‘My time on Hollyoaks has been incredible. I’ve learned so much about the crafts of acting for camera.’
‘I’ve learned so much about the technicalities of working with a camera, which I was really hungry to learn about. I’ve been so fortunate to be as busy as I have been, with some very fun storylines, and to work with some incredibly talented people, who have helped me grow and learn.’
Liam was at the centre of many storylines during Jude’s stint in the serial drama — from his srteamy affair with Mercedes, to his fleeting romance with James — but for Jude, there is one particular storyline that he’ll fondly remember.
He said: ‘My favourite storyline must be my exit from the show. I liked the finality of it, and I liked how dramatic it was. I liked that I could just let loose in it.’

‘I’m absolutely going to keep in contact with all the pals that I’ve made on the show. The people that I had long term storylines with. I would count myself lucky enough to be their friends, and I very much hope that we work together on something in the future.’
Hollyoaks continues Thursday 26 March at 7pm on E4.
