How celeb bad girls like Naomi Campbell cleaned up their act after brawl with cops, bong bust and sex tape scandal

THEY’RE no strangers to controversy, and many of these celebrities have rap sheets longer than this article.

For years, these were the leading ladies known for making trouble: from Miley Cyrus’s drug-smoking antics to Paris Hilton's infamous DUI and sex tape leak.

But these wild cats of the showbiz world have proven that leopards can change their spots, having swapped their party-girl antics for more wholesome pastimes.

Just this week, Naomi Campbell showed she's well and truly turned over a new leaf, dazzling on the cover of Vogue magazine.

The supermodel, 51, posed on the cover of the March edition of the fashion bible with her little girl and revealed how she kept her arrival so secret.

From naughty noughties icons to twerking twerps, these are the celebrity bad girls gone good.

Naomi Campbell: From community service to motherhood

She’s a supermodel known for her love of high fashion… and megastar Naomi Campbell proved in 2007 that she could even make community service look glamorous.

After a string of assault convictions, Campbell, then 37, pleaded guilty to throwing her Blackberry at her former housekeeper, which earned her a five day stint sweeping floors and picking up litter in New York.

At the time, Naomi liked to play up to her bad girl image, cultivating a reputation for being wild and out of control… and looking good while doing it.

Knowing she’d be snapped in the act, she dressed extravagantly for her community service and even stepped out in 2006 in a shirt which read: “Naomi hit me… and I loved it.”

She was arrested again in 2008 after assaulting two police officers at Heathrow airport, and she caused such chaos that British Airways banned her for life from flying with them.

Now, however, things couldn’t be more different.

These days, Naomi lives a settled life of maternal bliss, and she recently opened up for the first time about becoming a mum at 50.

She revealed her baby news last year, to the surprise of her fans.

In an Instagram caption Naomi said: “So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love.”

The father of Naomi’s daughter is a multi-millionaire businessman living in New York. BA staff everywhere will be pleased to know the supermodel has settled into her maternal life there, and won’t be causing trouble any time soon.

Kate Moss: Model’s escape to the country

She was the original party girl of the nineties, known for pioneering the ultra-slim “heroin chic” look which shocked and scandalised the fashion world.

Recruited as a model at just fourteen, Kate shot to fame at breakneck speed. When she wasn’t being photographed in campaigns for brands like Calvin Klein, she was being snapped all over the London party scene.

In 2005 she was accused of taking cocaine, and the ensuing scandal cost her a £4million-a-year campaign with H&M to model clothes designed by Stella McCartney.

She was dropped by Chanel and Burberry around the same time, although she always denied the coke charges and was eventually cleared by the police of all wrongdoing.

The supermodel and businesswoman moved on, and now Kate, 48, has well and truly put her party-girl past behind her.

Last week, we exclusively revealed she’s selling her Highgate mansion for £11.5m so she can quit London for a quiet life in the Cotswolds.

Kate has been teetotal for years, and she’s in a steady relationship with German aristocrat and photographer Count Nikolai Von Bismarck.

The pair are set to escape to the country together, where Kate can draw a line under her scandal-stuffed past.

Miley Cyrus: The twerker who was finally tamed

Everyone knows the story: like so many Disney stars before her, Miley Cyrus found fame at a young age and then went off the rails.

But the Hannah Montana star went further than most, shocking the world at the 2013 VMAs with an ultra-racy performance that well and truly put twerking on the map.

For years, the Wrecking Ball singer was open about her drug use, with the then-21-year-old going on to smoke weed onstage at the EMAs the same year.

Miley even released an album called Can’t Be Tamed and, for a long time, it seemed she couldn’t.

But in recent years, Miley, 29, has turned it all around.

Under the positive influence of godmother Dolly Parton, Miley has leaned into her wholesome country routes and has gone completely sober.

She’s also an animal rights activist and a committed charity fundraiser, and her new good-girl persona is even reflected in the more restrained and lyrical style of her recent music.

Angelina Jolie: Wild child no more

Throughout the late nineties and early noughties, Angelina Jolie traded on her reputation as a wild child.

The actress and filmmaker has always made headlines thanks to her well-documented obsession with blood, knives, and sadomasochism.

It’s common knowledge that Angelina keeps a collection of rare and unusual knives, and she even admits to using them to spice up her sex life.

However, around 2005 the Mr & Mrs Smith star, famous also for her longstanding relationship (and split) with Brad Pitt, started to shift her energies elsewhere.

Aged 26, she became involved with the UN High Commission for Refugees, saying at the time: “In my early 20s I was fighting with myself. Now I take that punk in me to Washington, and I fight for something important.”

Now 46, Angelina is a humanitarian icon and refugee advocate, and was named most admired woman in the world by YouGov in 2015 and 2016. She was even made a visiting professor at the prestigious London School of Economics, where she teaches on the subject of women in conflict.

Amanda Bynes: Bong scandal is in the past

Amanda Bynes got her first break as a child actor before landing major roles in She’s The Man, Hairspray, and Easy-A.

But offscreen, it wasn’t always easy for the young star, who spent years battling substance abuse problems and mental health demons.

In 2012, Amanda was slapped with a DUI in West Hollywood, and in 2013 she was charged with marijuana possession.

She reportedly threw a bong out of the window of her 36th floor apartment when police officers came knocking, although this case was later thrown out and her earlier DUI resulted only in a probation.

But in 2018, after an extended spell away from the limelight, Amanda announced that she was four years sober and was putting the past behind her. She also intends to get back into TV acting, and has said she hopes to make the most of her clean slate.

Taking to Twitter, the 35-year-old wrote: “I can't turn back time but if I could, I would. And I'm so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me.”

Paris Hilton: The It Girl who settled down

Another iconic party girl of the noughties, Paris Hilton taught the world that it was possible to be famous for being famous.

Known for her foul mouth, jet-set lifestyle, and string of celebrity lovers, Paris spent years in the papers, often for all the wrong reasons.

In 2003 a sex tape of her and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked, and her profile only heightened when she starred soon after in a reality TV series, The Simple Life, with Nicole Richie.

However, come 2006 she found herself in trouble with the law: a DUI came first, and then a five-day prison sentence for driving with a suspended license. In 2010 she was caught in Las Vegas with drugs in her purse.

Now 40, Paris still likes to party, but it’s been a long time since she found herself on the wrong side of the law.

The businesswoman has launched her own fashion line and fragrance collection, and worked as a DJ and singer.

Now married to businessman Carter Rheum, Paris and her new husband star in a 13-part reality show called Paris In Love.

Nicole Richie: New life in LA

Best known for being Paris Hilton’s partner in crime, Nicole Richie has been everywhere and done it all.

And on multiple occasions during the roaring noughties Nicole, the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie, found herself in trouble with the law.

Bar fights, drug possession, and driving without a license all feature on her rap sheet, but it wasn’t until 2007 that she really followed in her bestie’s footsteps… into prison.

Sentenced to four days for a DUI, Nicole served barely an hour of this sentence before she was released because of prison overcrowding.

Now 40, Nicole has turned it all around, working as a fashion designer and an actor on the sitcom Great News.

She has two kids with her rocker husband Joel Madden, and lives with her family in LA.
