The actress has been with her partner, British anthropologist Hugh Brody, since 1993 and they have two chidlren.

She has recently lost her husband but even in a time of grief is unwelcoming of her only son’s return and his presence at his father's funeral.

Dorothy hasn’t seen Matthew for over 20 years and made it clear to him all those years ago that without belief he could no longer be a part of the community.

However, mother and son find themselves reforming some kind of relationship and Matthew discovers that she is proud of what he has achieved in his career.

Ultimately, she has to battle with her own sense of morality and is forced to finally
confront who her son really is – his beliefs and his sexuality.
