Harrison Ford is the star of some of the biggest movie franchises in history. From Star Wars to Indiana Jones and Bladerunner, whatever he touches turns to gold. But when is the new Indiana Jones movie coming out, and is he in it?
In an interview with American TV host Ellen DeGeneres, Ford revealed the movie is definitely coming soon.
Asked about the reports of a fifth instalment to the movie franchise, Ford said: “I can deny that it’s not happening.
His answer made the audience laugh as the host confirmed: “So it is happening,”
Ford replied: “Indeed, it is. It’s going to be fun. I am excited.
“They’re great fun to make.”

According to CNN, Ford will also reveal on CBS Sunday Morning, which will air in the USA at about 2pm in the UK, that they will be beginning the filming for the movie very soon indeed.
He said: “When we have an opportunity to make another, it is because people have enjoyed them.
“I feel obliged to make sure our ambitions are as ambitious as they were when we started.”
He also felt he had a “responsibility” to the franchise to deliver something spectacular, which fans will be hoping for after the last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

- ‘Stalker’ Steven Spielberg secretly filmed this male star
However, if Ford is right in his CBS interview and filming takes place only a couple of months, it means it could begin as early as April 2020, though he told DeGeneres the filming would be more likely to begin in Summer 2020.
Sadly, at present it has not been officially confirmed that Stephen Spielberg will return to the directing chair, or when the movie will be released.
Many of Spielberg’s movies are released within two years of filming starting, therefore it may be this will be a wait until 2022 for the movie to hit cinemas.
However, given it is the next Indiana Jones movie, the filmmakers will likely want to make it either the big movie of the summer, or the Christmas family bonanza, so out estimation is it could come out at Christmas 2021 at the earliest, and Christmas 2022 at the latest.

- Indiana Jones 5: John Rhys-Davies too ‘un-PC’ for sequel
This is, of course, if everything goes to plan, as many will remember how Harrison Ford’s foot injury in Star Wars: The Force Awakens meant the production was slightly delayed.
In terms of the story for the Indiana Jones 5, little is known, and a title has not even been decided upon.
Asked by CBS about what the film could be about, he said: “Well, I’m not going to share the story with you because that doesn’t seem like a good idea.
“But we’ll see new developments in his life, his relationship. We’ll see part of his history resolved.”
This tease could mean a number of things, including whether he and Marion Ravenwood, played by Karen Allen, are still together after the events of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
It has been reported that Shia LaBoeuf’s Mutt, who many were expecting to take on the mantle as the new Indy after the 2008 movie, will not be included, perhaps due to the way fans reacted to that film.
As a result, Mutt will likely not be a character whose presence is acknowledged, so it may be the fifth instalment has to right some wrongs from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Of course, Indy himself has said he would not want another actor to play Indiana Jones after him, and has even said that when he’s gone, his character will follow.
As Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm confirmed the movie is a continuation of Indy’s character, it seems to make sense that it will develop the relationship with his wife and maybe even look further into children of his, though unlikely including Mutt.
