EastEnders’ legend Natalie Cassidy – who plays Sonia Fowler – has fully cemented her icon status in our eyes by fully embracing the fact that she has a few grey hairs.
On her Instagram she posted a video announcing that she’d finished work early and was enjoying the sunshine. At this point she noticed a few grey hairs in her long dark hair.
Pausing to reflect on her roots she announced, ‘Bit grey. Who cares? Don’t matter does it?’ before stepping smilingly into the sun.
‘I’m squinting. The sun’s out,’ she said happily. ‘How much better does it make you feel? We’ll have some more of you,’ she told the sun.
We’re absolutely here for Natalie’s realness (in another post she says ‘I’ve run 5 miles, look like a beetroot, wish I could not look like a beetroot when I run’). One commenter on the post spoke for all of us by saying, ‘Love you so much , you are so real and you make me smile, thank you ❤️’ while another said ‘I genuinely have a special little corner in my heart saved for you and your updates @natcass1 ✨🙏🏻❤️’

Meanwhile Natalie’s co-star Bobby Brazier (who plays Freddie Slater) was liking her eye-wear. ‘Glasses are unreal 😎,’ he commented.
In EastEnders Sonia has recently had to deal with the death of beloved Dot Cotton (June Brown) and planning her funeral, which brought Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) to Walford, something Natalie described as a ‘shining beacon of light’ in her character’s life.
Now Reiss has returned to Albert Square and is helping Sonia to hold on to the house that Dot left her in her will. It’s clear there are romantic feelings between the pair, but things are set to become more complicated when Sonia takes in a new lodger, Jed.
Will Reiss and Sonia eventually find happiness together?
‘I won’t give much away but I would say, in the stuff I’ve been doing lately, I really feel that you’re seeing the comedic side of Sonia come back and the light. I really am enjoying playing her and I think it’s really special,’ Natalie said last month.
