Kate Garraway 's daughter Darcey, 15, left her father Derek Draper in tears over her sweet birthday card during the family's powerful documentary Caring For Derek on Tuesday.
The ITV show is a follow up to the Good Morning Britain presenter's, 54, award-winning first documentary Finding Derek and it followed Derek arriving home ten months ago up until now.
Derek, 54, returned home in April 2021 after spending a year in hospital fighting for his life after contracting coronavirus in 2020, which has since left him battling a number of ongoing health issues.
In one sweet moment, the family celebrated Derek's 54th birthday in August as they decorated the house with balloons, banners and a red velvet cake.
Kate said: "You've got a lot of cards, darling, it's good" as the family asked Derek to read out Darcey's birthday card out loud.
To which Derek read: "To the greatest father in the world, happy birthday, love you so much. I am so proud of you. Are you going to give me a cuddle?"
Derek started crying as Darcey then went over to give her dad a hug as she sweetly said: "Love you", while his son Billy, 12, then also hugged his father.
Kate said: "We are so proud of you. She [Darcey] might give you a hard time, but she's proud of you."
It then showed the family FaceTiming other loved ones as they all sung happy birthday to Derek around his cake.
Speaking in a VT, Darcey said: "Obviously, the relationship is still the same but I would say that dad's still not able to show it as much as before. But he still does, just in little ways. You can see that, yeah, you can see the love, yeah."
The teenager was then asked off-camera: "Are you worried about anyone seeing your dad?"
To which she replied: "Not at all. I know some people might be embarrassed by it, but I'm not embarrassed by it just because he has survived it. You know what I mean? So it's more impressive than embarrassing!"
Taking to Twitter, viewers were quick to praise Kate and Derek's two children Darcey and Billy.
One person said: "Watching #CaringForDerek. What smashing kids Darcey and Billy are. @kategarraway."
