KERRY Katona's daughter Heidi Croft has opened up on her anxiety battle which saw her break down in tears and "struggle to cope" shortly before her stunning The Voice Kids audition.
The 13-year-old, who is the third-eldest of Atomic Kitten singer Kerry's children, suffered a huge bout of nerves prior to taking to the stage in front of coaches Paloma Faith, Danny Jones, will.i.am and Pixie Lott on the ITV show this weekend.
Heidi chose iconic Macy Gray track I Try for her once in a lifetime performance yet, shortly before belting out the first note, she was left sobbing backstage.
The youngster told OK.co.uk she felt the show's blind audition format "quite overwhelming."
Talking of her tears before the track Heidi said: "I started crying. Suddenly I didn’t want to go on.
"I was so scared and I don’t know why. I just was.
"I kept trying to get Claire the producer to come on stage with me. I was really frightened."
Opening up on her stage fright she added: "I couldn’t bear it, I was so nervous, I couldn’t breathe.
"But the producers really made me feel better and more confident and I just got on with it."
Meanwhile doting parent Kerry, who was forced to watch from the sidelines, candidly said: "I wanted to run on that stage and take her home in that moment."
Yet she explained: "Then the next thing I hear is this big “Awww” from the audience.
"I thought they were doing it because Heidi’s so small, but no – her nose was bright red, her eyes were swollen, she had a tissue in her hand – they were reacting to how upset she was!
In hindsight, Heidi need not have worried at all.
Her amazing rendition was enough to impress the judges with Paloma welcoming Heidi onto her team, much to Kerry's delight.
Heidi also revealed she had planned to pick will.i.am as her mentor before eventually settling on Paloma.
Giving insight into the audition process, Heidi told followers that Kerry had drove her down to the audition late last year.
The former Atomic Kitten star and her daughter were joined by Heidi's siblings Molly, 18, Max, 12, and Dylan-Jorge, six, as well as boyfriend Ryan Mahoney.
