KELLY Macdonald has seen her career soar over two decades after appearing in the iconic 90s film Trainspotting.

Now, she's back on our screens in BBC One's The Victim – here is the lowdown on the actress.

Who is Kelly Macdonald?

Kelly was born February 23, 1976, and is a Scottish actress.

She shot to fame when she starred in Trainspotting in 1996, when she was 20, playing Diane.

The role catapulted her to fame, and she reprised the part in 2016 for the sequel to the hit film.

In 2019 Kelly starred in the BBC series The Victim alongside John Hannah.

Is Kelly Macdonald starring in Line of Duty?

On November 19, 2019 it was revealed Kelly WILL be starring in season six of Line of Duty.

The actress will play the role of brutal Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson.

BBC One announced the news on Twitter, they said: "Kelly Macdonald will star as guest lead in the next series of #LineOfDuty.

"She's playing Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12."

In August 2003, Kelly married musician Dougie Payne, bassist of rock band Travis.

They have two children and moved back to their home town of Glasgow in 2014, after living in London and New York.

They separated in 2017.
